At-Home Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy That Comes To You

Contact Us

Recovering from surgery, an injury, or a health setback shouldn’t mean fighting traffic to reach a clinic. Active Home Health, Hospice & Personal Care brings physical therapy straight to your living room, so you can heal on your own schedule, in the place you feel most comfortable.

What is In-Home Physical Therapy?

In-home physical therapy brings a licensed therapist directly to your doorstep for one-on-one sessions built around your specific goals. Instead of driving to an outpatient clinic, you’ll get personalized care in familiar surroundings, working through the same exercises and equipment a clinic would offer.

What to Expect from our Physical Therapy Program

Your physical therapy program starts with an evaluation of your strength, mobility, and pain levels. From there, your physical therapist creates a plan to help you reach goals such as walking to the mailbox again, climbing stairs safely, or returning to your favorite hobby. The program adjusts as you progress.

Benefits of Physical Therapy at Home

At-home physical therapy removes the barriers that keep people from healing: transportation struggles, waiting rooms, and rushed appointments. With at-home physical therapy, you can recover in a familiar space with a physical therapist who sees how you move through your home and adjusts your therapy around it.

Physical Therapy FAQs

Is in-home physical therapy as effective as clinic-based therapy?

Yes. In-home physical therapy uses the same evidence-based techniques, exercises, and equipment you’d find in a clinic. Many patients progress faster at home because they practice movements in the space where they live, like navigating a narrow hallway or getting in and out of their shower. Your physical therapist also gets a clearer view of any hazards in the home that could slow recovery.

Does insurance or Medicare cover in-home physical therapy?

Medicare and many private insurance plans cover physical therapy in home when it’s ordered by a physician and provided by a licensed physical therapist. Coverage details vary by plan and by whether you qualify as homebound, so our team verifies your specific benefits before care begins. We’ll take care of the paperwork and walk you through what to expect, so cost never surprises you partway through your recovery.

How long will I need physical therapy?

Recovery timelines depend on your diagnosis, your starting point, and how your body responds to treatment. Some patients need a few weeks after a minor injury. Others, recovering from surgery or a major health event, need several months of consistent sessions. Your physical therapist reassesses your progress regularly and adjusts the plan as needed.

Do I need special equipment at home for physical therapy?

Your physical therapist works with what you already have: your stairs, a favorite chair, the hallway you walk every day, and brings any additional tools needed for sessions. If your recovery requires equipment like a walker, grab bars, or a shower chair, we’ll make recommendations and explain why.
